I suppose I should really pick up the new Judge Dredd RPG but, well, the GW version has a special place in my heart and I'm a little scared

Dave,

Have no fear! The D20 Judge Dredd RPG is really, really fun!

In my opinion, it is among the best applications of the D20 rules set yet (Mutants & Masterminds being another).

You should get it!

Started in 79 with D&D.

I remember carrying my D&D books to middle school and feeling really proud about it. At that time there were not alot of us that played D&D, so we hung out alot and talked about our games.

I started playing with the Blue Book (you know, the one with the Dragon on the cover) and a few weeks later ran my first game.

After running, I realized that I prefered running more than playing, so I became the DM for the group.

Then, I started a group in the late 80's-early 90's that had 10 people as its core. We met every Saturday for about 7 years. Our gaming sessions went about 12 hours long and sometimes alot longer.

I find it amusing that all the polls I've seen here always get such a nice bell curve (sometimes a little skewed, but anyway).
I didn't start gaming regularly till after I met the hubby. The first game was Synnibarr-8 hours of character creation before we even got to play.

Early nineties, when my soon-to-be-stepfather introduced me to Gamma World and AD&D 1e.

I didn't even know there was a second edition until 1995 or so, even though I was using the Complete Psionics handbook and some of the other 2e splats in the 1e games.

How interesting. Most people (ie. a majority) appear to have started gaming before I could walk... or breathe, for that matter.

Anyway, I started D&D back in 1991 at age 10. The big black basic box with the red dragon on the front. Never got into AD&D until 3e (which is no longer 'A', is it?).

I remember Basic and Expert D&D but I can't remember where or when I got them, I remember buying 1st edition Cyberpunk while on holiday with my mum and dad.

Boy am I going to date myself .
The summer before 8th grade, that would be 1975 ...
Man am I old ...:D

But I've had a lot of gaming fun .

Start buying (or having parents buy) books, daydreaming, and fooling around with friends and dice? Early 80s.

Start playing with a group who actually care what the rules say, and try to "role-play" as opposed to "power-munchkin-fantisize"? Past two years.

this is me. although its really been the last four years, not the last two.

got REAL confused by the Monster Manual and Player's Handbook when they turned up among my friends...
1978 for me, and yeah, I remember going, "What the heck?" when the PHB first showed up. But then going "Cool!" when we realised what it was.

I was the first DM I ever knew. The first night, I ran a group consisting of my older sister, my dad, the kid across the street and Martin. Mart's playing in Barsoom now, so we've been gaming together for, oh, 25 years now, I guess. Less a 20-year gap in the middle when we lived on opposite sides of the Rockies, North America and the Pacific Ocean for a while, but who's counting?
