When I have stopped listening... (re: catalog copy)

First Post
I have stopped listening when:

you mention over 10 prestige classes in one product
you say the words "new core class"
you state your book has more feats the the 3.5 PHB

Anyone else have any catalog copy pet peeves?

Aaron.

"Totaly New World"

Not that it's bad per se, but I'm just sick of every GM with a long running campaign putting out a book based on their world.

Anything that "addresses issues", "improves on" or "fixes problems" in another product. I often see homebrew publisher wannabes at conventions trying to talk people into buying their game because it "fixes lots of [major game here]'s problems". The last guy had a beautiful system which flawlessly scaled combat from abstract D&D-style for mooks to hyperdetailed GURPS-style for major battles, but he didn't mention it to me because he was too busy ranting against AD&D (the guy didn't know much about 3e, either).

Something that comes off as being "an answer to all the problems of class based systems." C'mon, good games stopped using this as their selling point 10 years ago. You use this now, you flag yourself as being wet-behind-the-ears design wise.

"updates the setting to the year X"
I can't stand metaplots, or game settings that change constantly based on novels or cardgames.

"more resources for class X"
Needless to say I don't buy Quintessential X books.

Claims the core book covers anything anyone would want to do, any setting, any time, and you will never have to buy another supplement...

So what you're saying is that FR isn't your cup of tea eh?

Same here. I also avoid race books. Overdetail one race and then you have to overdetail them all, then the its work, work, work...
