Where did the new D&D Basic Game go?

The set will come with pregenerated PCs.

If true, they've gotta fix that. The whole point of a Basic D&D set is to get newbies hooked on making their own characters. Simplify as necessary, but make generating your own PC the centerpiece.

It makes more sense, to me, to do that with the Player's Kit. (which I think they did, but I'm not sure)

All anyone should expect out of the Player's Kit is a softcover Player's Handbook and some dice. The booklets are basically worthless.
