Where did these monsters appear?

Thoul:
Dungeons & Dragons Basic Rules (Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, 1981)

First mention of the Thoul is well before D&D Basic. It was in the original D&D rules (I wanna say Greyhawk, I'll check that) and dates back to around 1976-7.

Do you have the dragon CD compilation? Monsters usually showed up there or in a module before making it into the hardbacks.

I searched for Thoul last night, and only turned up a reference to the typo, but with no specifics.
