WHere do you find extreme Power Gaming groups?

What makes you think so?

Ok...let me modify my statement. His style of gaming is a minority in my neck of the woods. I've seen my share of powergamers in 30 years of playing but never have I seen a total munchkin like this guy is described. And I have played in lots of games with lots of other players.....

So, ergo, from my location in the cheap seats, his 'style' of play is a minority position.

Now, people like this player may grow on trees in other places and are a dime a dozen **what a scary thought**, so of course, the caveat 'YMMV' should have been stated by me from the start.

my bad....

Agreed that he's in the minority here (usually) but it hits a nerve (compassion, damn your curse!!) when someone who wants to play can't. Mostly his fault (he doesn't budge) but if we can find somewhere for him to go...

uhmmm try a MMORPG like Lineage II?

Is this as popular as Everquest or World of Warcraft? I've only heard of it in Korea.

Oh, and my answer to the question of this thread is, "Far away from me." :)

Lineage II has gotten very popular over here at school. Private servers, so you don't have to pay a monthly fee (yet).

I'd try to put him through a no-combat game, myself. Try to teach him to roleplay.

Tried that. Got 5 minutes into the session when he went home...

Really? Five minutes??

I wouldn't waste my time trying to find him a group since he's not even willing to spend the time to try a game out for a night (or even a few hours). While I wish him luck, it seems absurd for someone else to try to do the foot work for him.
