Where do you get your minatures?

Lord Dalen

First Post
I've been hunting for some good sites to look at and buy minatures to use for my characters, and I can't find many. The only place I seem to be able to find any real minatures is from the reaper mini's site. I know that Wizards' was putting out a line of D&D minatures, but I can't seem to locate them on their site. Their chainail ones aren't really all that good. And since I've been searching around for a few days for these, I thought I'd ask ya'll...

Where do you get your minatures online?

RPG Host's RPG Shop at www.rpgshop.com was where I got quite a few of my Reaper miniatures. When I decided to get into using miniatures, I took a road trip to a real, decent-sized gaming store an hour and a half away and went home with painting supplies and several heroic miniatures.

However, before I started getting my co-DM/the other DM in the group the Creature Counters I decided I wanted to get some monsters as miniatures so we didn't have to use spare change, army men and condiments from our Chicken McNugget runs (we used to argue over who would get Honey Mustard to represent their horse and who would get stuck with Sweet & Sour). We ordered from RPG Shop, which had a fairly decent selection, and even though it was a few weeks before Christmas we got them fairly quick.

Discount Hobby has a good selection of minis, especially Reaper minis. Lately, I've been loving the look of Rackham's Confrontation minis, but have been steered away from New Wave Games because of their poor customer service. As a result, I shop for Confrontation minis at Fantization . They have an up-to-date, real-time inventory system, and provide reliable service. My only disappointment with them is that their selection seems to dwindle rapidly once they restock.

As long as you are there, I must recommend the Kolinsky sable brushes and Vallejo paints...they're fantastic! I can't seem to put those and the confrontation minis in the same shopping cart though.

I use my local stores a lot, but for online shopping I use Discount Hobby which is also known online as Dragglestown.

They have pictures of almost all minis they sell, very speedy shipping, and great customer service. Most of their Reaper Minis are discounted, too. Not sure about the other lines.

I have ordered from them at least three times, and each experience was very positive.

buying locally

I usually prefer to buy minatures at a local hobby shop too. But, I can't find one that is anywhere near close. The nearest one to me that is decent is a two hour round trip. So to make the trip worthwhile, I'd have to spend alot of money on minatures and that just seems silly. So I'm trying to find some good sites online. I appreciate the help guys. Keep 'em coming. :D

Wow. I just checked out RPG Shop and they have nothing like the selection they did when I ordered just a few months ago - and very little in the way of available images. You'll probably want to skip this one. Wonder what happened?

I'm fortunate enough to live in an area where there are several good hobby shops to choose from within a reasonable driving distance. It really wouldn't matter much in my case though, since just about the only minis I buy are from Reaper. If I couldn't shop locally, I'd use their website almost exclusively.

You can get them from us

We carry Reaper miniatures and sell them at 30% off. Games Workshop miniatures are available for 20% off.

Thanks.
