D&D 5E Where in the Forgotten Realms?: Sragadha, Langdarma, Nermoree, and more

What is the Dock in the glacier in the Yehimals?

The Dock is a huge Spelljammer port. It appears in a couple of novels in the Spelljammer "Cloakmaster Cycle" series - Into the Void and one of the last two (I believe in The Broken Sphere but it might be Into the Void, it's been forever since I read them). It's also detailed in the Realmspace accessory.

Wasn't that area detailed (to some extent) in an old web series years ago? A collection of small kingdoms a la the Border Kingdoms?

Edit: I can't find any reference to this series, so maybe I'm dreaming it. Or maybe it was the Border Kingdoms.

These lands are indeed from the game Blood & Magic. However, that game was adopted in canon and is now the most detailed source of lore on this region. There was a page-long writeup in the Grand History of the Realms as well. The area also appears in the Double Diamond Saga, which has since been determined MOSTLY non-canon.

One of the FR wiki admins, BadCatMan, is probably the best source of information on this area. He also did writeups for the region over on Candlekeep.com a couple of years ago.

The Sempadan Forest is not far from the southern Capital city of Anok-Imaskar, Tempat Larang, which is detailed in an Oriental Adventures module, OA6: Ronin Challenge. Anok-Imaskar was a successor state of Imaskar and basically created the foundations of Shou Lung & T'u Lung in Kara-Tur as well as originally claiming the lands that you're asking about.

The area is populated by a pseudo-asian people (kind of east indian) called the Mar. They were visited by Ffolk and Northmen from the Moonshae Isles who ended up dominating their culture.

Thanks, mate! :) I had a feeling there was some stuff lurking in Oriental Adventures about Sempadan.

My research sources so far have been Faces of Deception (by Troy Denning), Grand History of the Forgotten Realms, the Blood & Magic computer game, and 3.5e Shining South. I'll have to check out OA6: Ronin Challenge.

Thanks for mentioning BadCatMan too, I'll see if I can get in touch with him.

Wow! I never would have guessed. :D I haven't read the "Cloakmaster Cycle" and I don't have the Realmspace accesory...any details you can share about The Dock?

Sorry, don't have either of them any more.

Realmspace says the The Dock is the greatest and also strangest Spelljamming trade port in all of Toril. It has 300 dry docks; magical tethers and a huge Arcane bazaar.

However, the place is run by a bunch of guys who are described like the G-Man from the Half-Life games, who tax the bejeezus out of every crew who lands there.

Another follow-up question about the "Utter East."

Anyone have a take on the Nermoree Islands? They appear in the old FR Atlas, but no details on them that I can find.

And does anyone have a writeup on Langdarma? I haven't read Faces of Deception, so I don't know what Troy Denning wrote about it.

Langdarma got a writeup in the 3rd Dragon Magazine Annual. It's an earthly paradise protected by a Movanic Deva known as 'The Sannyasi'. It's kind of a divine protectorate. A power called Abhirati created the place but left to travel the planes, leaving behind a portion of her power to be invested in mortal healers who ensure that other mortals living there never stay sick for long.

Random portals in the Yehimals are the only way in and if you enter one, you are tested by The Sannyasi. If he determines your intentions are good and non-violent, you are allowed to stay in paradise for a time but are then asked to leave. If not, you are healed and sent back through the portal, which is sealed behind you.

A few natives live in small villages in Langdarma, which is split into Upper and Lower Langdarma, depending on the altitude. All natives radiate auras of peace and one person per village is chosen (usually by an inclination to the craft) to be its healer. They are taught to be priests of Abhirati and must take oaths of nonviolence - in exchange they can cure practically any injury or ailment with a prayer and some blessed herbs. If they ever cause a wound though, they lose all of their powers.

There is strictly only one such healer per village because Abhirati's lingering power would be wasted if it is concentrated so. The Sannyasi ensures that no healer spends much time with another once their training is complete.

Nothing canon has ever been written about Far Nermoree but there was mention of it in Volume 9 of the Candlekeep Compendium, a fan work from the scribes over at Candlekeep.com.
