D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

I think to make fighters more mythic you would even need to adjust their combat abilities... let em have that unlimited number of opportunity attacks and similar things.

Just because the Battle Master has a disarm ability doesn't mean other PCs can't attempt to disarm as, say, a grapple action.
The fighter pays for his ability use each time just as your mage paid for his feather fall. (a different price but still a price) It creates a limit just like your nearly impossible to reduce an allies falling damage did. IT obligatorily has to be significantly worse.

Well, there is no obligation at all, but grappling is less attractive than simply killing the enemy with straight attacks, though doable.

Dude, they can already make up to 8 attacks in a six second period by the end. That's mythic.

And that actually might be seen as a genre expectation built in too ;) Note its a fairly realistic one except most grappling in real life martial training is a lead into an attack not something that stands on its own.

And yet the goblins can swarm past them oh except maybe 1. Its really not that awesome A berserk making a wild swing hitting every creature adjacent ought to be a pretty damn normal paragon class thing to do or even heroic

Actually I wasnt thinking unlimited I was actually thinking 1 per the number attacks they can make. (but that doesnt even have to be mythic really)

Try letting 8 arrows loose in 6 seconds sometime.

And I call BS on there not being an obligation to limit what can be improvised when the game features characters paying resources to perform the action.
