D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

The battlemaster fighter has a fairly restricted set of maneuvers to discourage the improvisation of disams and other actions which well which could be tried by anyone. A DM wanting balance between improvised choices and class resource driven ones is in the same boat as if there were skill powers.

If you feel that way, you could always just ban the Battle Master, though that seems not to nice with your overall position.

I have experience watching Marvel superhero movies, and I dream. Good enough to work with the 5E skill system.
I disagree the Marvel superhero theory helps if half of the marvel verse was improvised and the other was locked in mechanics instead of all of it being whatever works for the story

Correct I am saying the game already has elements which create boundaries on improvisation it isnt really open like you claim. The boundaries are hard to analyze.

Their existence create an environment of expectations that expending a resources means it can be more powerful and that expectation isn't going away (you have it I have it)

But that's not how 5E works. Just because the Battle Master has a disarm ability doesn't mean other PCs can't attempt to disarm as, say, a grapple action.
