where would you go?

I'd probably join gizmo33 in Rivendell. Although I'd be pretty tempted to check out Morningdawn Hall in Shadowdale to see if it's really as gauche as it sounds. :)

One can essentially pick any number of idealistic places to live forever such as Valinor, or the planes of Ellysium, Mount Celestia, Arborea, Arcadia, ect. Any of those are good places to retire to.

For immediate gratification though I think I'd pick Elminster's secret hideout at the center of the planet Coliar in the same crystal sphere as the Forgotten Realms. It itself isn't much to see but it has a few key resources I'd enjoy exploiting such as a row of shelves containing every kind of potion that Elminster has collected during his lifetime and a closet filled floor to ceiling with precious gems. Best of all however is the fact that it is an interdimensional hub of sorts with four magical gates: one leading to Elminster's tower in Shadowdale, another leading to the island of Evermeet, another that leads to Yellowstone National Park in the 19th century and another that leads to Ed Greenwood's study in Ontario, Canada. Access to a huge stash of magic and cash as well as the four portals would allow me to realize all of my wildest fantasies. The portal that leads to YNP is essentially a time machine and the other three allow me to journey back and forth between the real world and the Forgotten Realms. What more could I want? :D

Teach them to play Papers and Paychecks instead. They need escapism. :)

Yea, but DMing Gandalf playing a wizard would be like DMing a martial artist that thinks he could design a more "realistic" monk class. It would be funny to hear him complain all the time about how invisibility ought to be 9th level, and how casting a lightning bolt just isn't that hard.

Gandalf: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

Me: "Exactly. Which is about 6 seconds this round, so stop complaining about invisibility and either delay your action or cast a spell."

(In order of preference)

1. The Shire. Good food, good drink, good people, and a good smoke? Sign me up.
2. Sigil, too cool to miss.
3. Rivendell, just to see the architecture.
4. Edoras in Rohan, for the women ;).
5. Lightning Rail to Sharn.
6. Hollow World.
7. The Wall (Legend of the Five Rings), because braining several goblins with a tetsubo sounds like a great way to let off some steam.

So to answer Eric Noah's question, The Shire. :)

My first thought was Arborea. But I don't think I could handle nonstop partying and all of the lust thrown my way. I'm the relationship type of guy, I can't handle casual sex partners. Plus, on the flip side, getting into arguments & fights all the time isn't my thing either. Never worrying about starving, and always having the best food would be nice.

Then I thought about Elysium. It sounds perfect, but it's too perfect. I would get bored there. And the people would start to get on my nerves. People who just have everything going for them and never experienced problems in life can be really annoying.

I think Bytopia is the place for me. I get along with the blue collar people better. They are more down to earth. I also respect hard workers and people who earn what they get. Bytopia also has a good balance of danger (without being too crazy) and safety.

Bytopia came to mind for me too. I want to climb one of those staircases that connect the two layers. :)

Dragon Earth San Diego permanently.

Get my clinical depression and anxiety disorder cured, then take classes on pantheology and thaumaturgy at State. Get my PHD in thaumaturgy at UCSD and teach it at State.

Try my hand at writing fantasies set in an Earth where magic does not work.

(Do you remember Eric saying it couldn't be your world? :D )
