I'm not sure where you're getting that idea- freezing foods generally does not destroy "a lot of the nutritional value."
It does, to some extent, but almost every form of food preservation does and the difference between fresh and frozen food is not going to matter for almost anyone living in a developed country. It's also an odd thing to bring up talking about french fries.

I had a hard time picking an option to vote for, because if they're done well then sweet potato fries win by a landslide for me, but they're so rarely done well. And then ime a lot of places want to add powdered sugar or honey to them. I think battered fries or regular are the most consistent, so I probably voted for one of them. I have forgotten now and it's hard to tell with dark mode on.

I think Steak Fries are absorbing other Fry types and that's skewing the results.

That said, I'm the weirdo that would prefer a Sweet Potato Fry. If it's a good one, I will say that there is a higher difficulty curve to making a good sweet potato fry, as it's tricky to manage them.

If we're sticking to ordinary potatoes ... I generally want some crispy, crunchy bits, as well as softer, fluffy bits. It's not a potato chip, but it's not a boiled potato either. It should offer both.

Now that I think about it, the best fries are in Poutine.
As long as it's good poutine. Thick cut fries, real cheese curd, and a good, peppery gravy. The best I've had was in a bar, in St-Laurant (Montreal), so long ago that I don't remember the name of the place, let alone if it still exists.

Blasphemer

This list is flawed, no fresh cut fries, no deal

Also known as chip truck fries in Ontario
I guess you didn't check where I was from... ;) Chip truck or fish & chips style fries are pretty much the same category. Given the categories offered in the OP, homestyle seems like the best fit.

I think these categories are flawed myself. Anything that's frozen, whether they are crinkle cut, shoestring or whatever... that's one category. Let's call it 'crap'. Pureed potatoes that are extruded into a fry-like shape, like tater tots and curly fries, that's another category. Battering, not my cup of tea, is something you can do to any type of french fry.
