Pretty much any militant class (fighter, monk, barbarian, etc) is mostly attainable in the real world by anyone who is sufficiently motivated and dedicated to training to learn the required skills. If I wanted to be a bard I'd likewise start by learning to perform and entertain in the real world. Since I haven't bothered to master a musical instrument yet it clearly isn't for me. Becoming a paladin, cleric or a druid is an interesting prospect, though it'd be strange suddenly being granted magic by some previously un-worshipped deity. I'd love the opportunity to cast commune though and get some straight answers on this whole existence thing...
Magic is definitely the strongest lure; it's a unknown skill in this world. To master it would be to be unique and beyond the ken of mortal men. Although the ease of use of sorcery is an appealing short-term option I'd have to go with the wizard's approach. To become a wizard would be to truly understand the mystical aspects of magic; a prospect that'd probably prove more valuable than the ability to cast a few measly spells. With a fundamental understanding of magic I could potentially create new spells throughout my life accomplishing things unimagined in the medieval paradigm. I could eventually also teach it to others and so begin a future worldwide dynasty of wizards. It could potentially change the world...
