Sorcerer. Greater Invis + Fly = a whole lot of opportunites to right wrongs and see naked girls!

Close second would be Bard, though... Rockstar status, baby!

Druid, for all the reasons stated above, even if you're stuck at 1st level. At the absolute least, you could make a decent living as a park ranger. :)

One thing all of you who voted for the spellcasting classes are forgetting... where are you going to get all the material components for your spells? Some of them are pretty rare in the Real World, IIRC.

Eschew Materials.

Other than the rare spell that requires body parts from some magical animal (such as the eyelash from a spellcasting critter for Contingency), I'd actually imagine material components would be far easier to come by now then they would be in a pseudo-mideval society.

So, off the top of my head, Eschew Materials.

Failing that, E-Bay.

:p

So you're walking along the beach and the proverbial Genie pops out of a bottle and offers to train you in a DnD class, which class do you pick?

None of the above. I'd use a Point Buy system to get exactly my current abilities, saves, attributes, etc.

Epic Feat: Ignore Material Compoents, until then I'd stick with verbal and somatic spells and some spells with easy to find material compoents.

Of the core classes in the poll, I chose Cleric (with the Travel domain so I can fly and teleport, and either the spell or charm domains, depending on what access I'll have to wizard spellbooks). As tempting as the fun spells of the sorcerer, wizard, and druid are, the ability to cure all sorts of afflictions, cast potent divinations, and have access to potentially hundreds of different spells without needing a spellbook is far more tempting. Besides, only Clerics meet the prerequisites for making a Ring of Sustenance.

If I could choose from any D&D book, I'd choose an Archivist. I don't need the BAB or armor feats, and with all the religious texts available at Amazon, on websites, at specialty bookstores, and in academic libraries I could find spells of almost any description. :p

If I could also choose from d20 books, I'd choose an AE Magister in a split second. They have access to all sorts of fun spells, including healing, aren't restricted to preparing spells, and don't need a spell book or inexpensive spell components. They do need a staff to cast spells without penalties (-1 caster level and double casting time), but I could live with those penalties for the spells I cast away from home.

Wizard

I doubt that I could qualify to cast higher then 1st lvl spells, but I would hope I could figure out how to word my wish so that I could get a kick to my Int to help out.

Wizard, of course.

I mean, that's why I play the game. MAGIC. Granted, I may not be able to cast that Wish, but a Charm Person would go a long way ;)
