Which Is The Best Spontaneous Divine Casting Class?

Favored Soul. Why?

All good saves.

Weapon Specialization.

Energy Resistance.

Dmg Reduction.

Flight.

Oh, and when you get to say 18th level, you can cast a little spell called Miracle-- which lets you mimic ANY spell 1-7th level, any divine spell up to 8th. So it totally makes up for your limited repetoir. Btw, this costs you 0 xp, unlike wish. God I love that spell! My epic favored soul casts it more than any other 9th level spell. Trapped in a force cage? Use miracle to cast Disintegrate to get out. Trapped in an underwater plane, without a swim speed? Use Miracle to polymorph into a scrag... Very cool spell.

I'm partial to the mystic, but I'm a DL guy and have most experience with them.

They are a wee bit underpowered compared to other divine casters (of course that puts them in good company, but that's another thread). I'd give them extra skill points or a bonus feat or three if I were DMing a campaign with a mystic.

I've played the L5R Card game for a long time and fell in love with the CS, so I have to say the shugenja. I think they could easily find a place in a dnd world, they've also got some really awesome spells open to them.

I haven't played the original L5R Card game (I'm not into CCGs/TCGs, but I'd say that L5R would be my first choice) but I have the RPG books - both the complete d20 material and the L5R 3rd Edition rules. I love Rokugan. In fact, I'll run a short introductory "campaignlet" in the next couple of weeks (might turn into a full-fledged campaign) and have already built a Bayushi Bushi to torture the players with.

I love how the tournaments influence the continuing story of the game. It's a living, breathing world where you can make a change without being the only true hero.

In fact, if they made a L5R MMORPG, I might be sorely tempted to start playing those after all (provided that all avenues would be open - Shugenja, Bushi, Monk, Courtier, and all those special occupations like shinobi.)

Using the domain sponteneity feats a normal cleric does a pretty good job as a spontaneous caster, depending on the domains.

Proper selection means spontaneously casting 3 spells per level plus having all of those slots.

I have not read over the UA version enough to see if it is equlivalent to this, better, or worse.

Why not? Here you go: Spontaneous Divine Casters
