You were lied to! There are WAY better settings out there! Scarred Lands man! Scarred Lands!!!!

Oh and did I mention....

SCARRED LANDS!!!

Not even within 10 posts and my prediction is coming true. Damn I'm good. :heh:

If you're looking to choose between the two, I'd recommend Eberron. Just seems much more vital to me-- possibly because it's new, but also at least partially because it was designed with the system in mind.

Tell you the truth, though, I'm not really a campaign setting kinda guy. I use Eberron purely for strip-mining purposes, and my recommendation is based on its usefulness for that purpose.

Mystery,

Hey credit to the fact I'm just up and around this time and NOT at work. :p

If I could, I'd post here every 30 seconds. :)

I will also go even further and predict 12 snide remarks, 6 arguments and 8 setting bashings. I could be off by say..six or seven dozen.

In answer to the original question: Go with Eberron. It's fresh, it's fun, it takes old things and makes them seem new. And it's coherent within itself - the world was designed as a whole, instead of piecemeal, which gives it a very different feeling. Forgotten Realms was the setting that got me into D&D (thanks, Baldur's Gate!) but it's very Tolkien-meets-historical-Earth. Except with lots of elves. And plenty of very powerful NPCs. And quite a few gods. And...

Well, I could go on. I do still like Forgotten Realms, but Eberron's my setting of choice.

Demiurge out.

So far, half a dozen replies and only two or three answers to the question. Good going, team!

Well, the post did start with a very inaccurate statement. But If I had to pick between the two......FRCS is less bad.

:p

Hey I'm fine with Eberron folks. I play a githzerai paladin in it. But honestly SL paladins are WAY cooler. Four orders, PLUS Knights of Tears. Way cooler. Hollowfaustian Necromancer can KICK Karnnathi necromancers any day of the week. Unhallowed, Hags, High Gorgon, Ratman. WAY cooler, not just as monsters BUT potential PCs too. :)
