I'd also recommend the old Mordheim sprues from Games Workshop. These multi-part plastic minis are totally customizable and come with a variety of weapons and accessories. I built of bunch of swabbies for my old Freeport campaign with these (and of course they're great for WFRP too). They've been repackaged as the Empire Militia boxed set, so you don't need to find an old copy of Mordheim to get them:

I actually like a great number of the poseable plastic GW figures, I was a bit disgruntled when they switched back to the one pose wonders last year or so. Though finding an old copy of Mordheim isn't a bad idea either, I have been running a campaign for, ummm, six years or so, off and on. (Currently on.) And you can always find uses for ruined buildings...

Vendel Miniatures: This British company has a cool line of fantasy figs done in a Dark Ages style. Very characterful. They also do historical minis.

The plastic D&D minis are great for batches of monsters and villains and undead. They are perfect for the job. When I have PCs I try to find things with a little more detail and as a favor to my group I paint them up for them. Currently, since I am running an Iron Kingdoms game, I am using the Privateer Press figs (when appropriate) but the range is not all that developed yet so some figures are not exactly available.

i like tin too. but not for roleplay. mostly just for wargames.

I like Reaper, but have a problem with the heroic 30mm size not fitting with most of my existing collection of older minis.

I use GW plastics for bulk numbers of Ratmen, Lizardmen, Skeletons and Zombies. For metals I like Black Tree Designs and Amazon Miniatures

I hadn't seen those Vendel figures before, but I'm impressed and will have to check them out.

Reaper's site (www.reapermini.com) has a useful search function that should help you narrow it down quickly. I think they've got several cleric types I can think off offthe top of my head that fit that broad description.

Vendel is definitely good. I bought like 40+ of their Macedonian pikemen and assembled them into a nice phalanx of 5 ranks - sort of like what they have on their website with the different ranks of pikemen holding their weapons at different levels. Looks really cool.

Also, Foundry has some great figures as well.

I like the GW plastics for their customizeable-ness. They have some good metal figures, if you want to pay the price.

Reaper is probably the best of individual D&D characters, though.
