I prefer wizards myself. With sorcerers you are (mostly) stuck with what spells you chose. With wizards, if you find yourself neeing to fight something that can only be hit by some very esoteri spells (such as golems or demiliches) then youll just be able to run out, buy a few scrools to scribe, and then memorize away.
While autoquicken help sorcerers immensely, it lo require you to sit through several levels with the otherwise useless quicken spell feat, or to use yet another of your precious few feats on Arcane Preparation. Plus, you have o be kind of up there in the epic levels for it to really start mattering (level 27 at a minimum).
IMO, versatility = good, stuck with your choices = bad.
That can partially be mitigated though if your campaign style is fairly homogenous. If most of your sessions involve fighting, then the lack of a large selection of noncombat spells is't going to be that big of a hit to you.
