Healing spells channel positive energy. Wounding spells channel negative energy. The Evocation school is the school of channeling energy. Am I the only one to make the connection?

evocation doesn't channel energy. it creates it. channel means that you are the conduit of something coming from something else. thus, conjuration.

but i've never liked that explanation of cure/inflict.

Lol well if you want to really bring up that idea. A lot of these spells should be in more then one school. like gaurds and wards,(abj) but it summons things (conj) and the wards have energy (evo). In fact pretty much all the abjuration spells need energy so they should be shuffled over into either evocation or necromancy. Dream (illusion) sounds like enchantment to me, or both. Earthquake (evo) huh? your not calling an earthquake from another dimension. If its a true earthquake (and at level 8 or 9 depending on whether your a cleric or druid it should be a true one) then your shifting tectonic plates under your target. Maybe conjuration? to bring pieces of the earth around, or positive energy (necromancy) to overload the stress lines. No reason necromancy has to be all evil energy. These are arcane casters not divine ones, alignment isnt relevent to the spell, only its energy and affects.
So the whole "which school should this be" argument gets tricky. For healing if your remolding the flesh to fix it then it should be transmutation. If your pulling new flesh off of some existing person to replace whats been lost thats conjuration (and your a total jerk, poor skinless SOB you pulled it off of, lol). If your putting more positive energy into the target to speed natural healing then its either evocation or necromancy. Wherever you want to put positive energy, which is a whole nother question.
So really first you have to decide how you want your healing to actually work. Then you can place it in a school.

Necromancy, by its very name, has to do with death. So it's a perfect school for speaking with dead, animating dead, bringing the dead back to life, and so on.

I don't agree with it being a "medecine" school, though. Not the same thing.

And I have no problems with earthquake being evocation. Calling it from another dimension would be conjuration. See that earthquake as a special form of telekinesis.

Since healing is through positive energy, and evocation is the energy school, then healing should be a subschool of evocation, not of conjuration.

No I made it too, and it would have been my other vote if I could have had two. I've never really understood why they got rid of multi-school spells in 3.x.

glass.

So I think (If healing spells should be in any of those schools at all) that healing spells would fall under necromancy.

Agreed. Healing spells should be in the school of Necromancy.
