Which team will win Super Bowl XLIV?

I voted Saints, because I'm a lifelong Saints fan.

However, when both teams were 9-0, I predicted that they'd meet in the Superbowl as undefeateds, and, down by 6 points with under a minute to go in the game, Drew Brees would be throwing to a wide-open receiver in the end zone...when the Rapture would occur, ending the game and human history all at once.

In reality, I think it will be similar to the Saints/Vikes game. For most of that game Fahahvarhareaerrrre was incredible, and- lets face it- the ball kept bouncing the Vike's way for the most part.

But for a couple of QB errors that the Saints hawked on, the Vikes probably have won that game.

So the Saints will be going from beating one of the T-800s of the NFL quarterbacking fraternity to playing against the reigning T-1000.

Yes, I'm scared- the kind of fear born of respect for one's foe.

Unless they get to Payton or cause a bunch of turnovers, there will be another trophy on the Manning Family mantle.

I'm gonna say Saints cause whatever shadow group controls the national football leagues and determines who wins what games has decided that Katrina is far enough in the past of American psyche and that the Saints should win.

I'll be watching this thread with interest.

My business partner is an American (from Philadelphia) and we're going to watch the Superbowl together at his house (I'm one of three Australians who likes NFL but I don't get to see it very often anymore... heck, I don't get to see rugby union anymore, but I digress!).

We'll probably bet on the game so I hope that the "wisdom of crowds" theory works here so I know which team to bet on.

As a Cowboys fan, I'll be backing the Saints with my heart. They made my day when they took out Farve and the Vikes!

But my head says Indy. They are one of, if not, THE most talented roster in the NFL but the glimmer of defeat comes from their coaching. I think they've been coached poorly this season with the glaring holes being presented not so much by players but plays. Although, anything can happen with Peyton at the helm.

Go Saints anyway!

Peyton, like all of the top-flight QBs, never feel like they're going to lose until the final seconds tick off the clock, which makes them dangerous- as Favre illustrates- to themselves and others.

Elway put it best when he said something to the effect of "I never lost, I just ran out of time."

OTOH, if the Saints can muster the kind of D they showed at the Superdome...

Favre on the Ground!
Favre on the Ground!
The Saints, they won, 'cause Favre's on the Ground!

Then Payton will be truly challenged.

Lets face it: for most of the season, his O line has kept him from facing the kind of beating Brett took- if he gets the proverbial punch to the gut, he may not be able to dismantle the Saints' secondary...

like all those other secondaries he carved up this year.

The best news for me?

Peyton doesn't have the same kind of running game the Vikes had.

This is a tough call - I really like both these teams.

Let's not forget that the Jets (yes, the friggin' Jets) of all teams gave the Colts a run for their money in the end there.

In the end, I think I'm going to go with the Saints because I think the people of New Orleans really deserve a Feel Good Moment after all they've been through since Katrina. B-)
