If we're talking about WotC/TSR settings, perhaps Rokugan should be included as well.

I didn't include Rokugun because it didn't start as a D&D setting.

I probably should have said *D&D WotC/TSR* settings. ;)

The closest thing to a Blackmoor campaign setting (until Joe Goodman has his way) is probably Judge's Guild's "First Fantasy Campaign," a curiosity that belongs on the bookshelf of every gamer who fancies himself an historian of Dungeons & Dragons. More a collection of notes, weird drawings, and crude maps than an actual modern campaign setting, it nonetheless gives an interesting glimpse into the very first D&D campaign. Its awful organization makes each perusal an expedition into the unknown.

Naturally, I voted for Greyhawk. :)

I am really surprised that Birthright has so few votes. Best setting imho because it perfectly fits me in the "Not too much detail, not too few" departement. Because of that i never liked FR mutch except to read it since it was too detailed for me.

Granted the basic premise of birthright to have PCs be rulers of different Kingdoms was not something i used. Used the background and played a normal campaign there. I still peruse the sourcebooks regularly if i need to get in "the mood" :)

Mystara (aka the gazeteer books) comes close second. They where fun to read and are a true treasure trove to steal from :D

Fair enough. You gotta draw the line somewhere when making these polls.

This was a tough one for me. I went with Greyhawk, though Mystara comes in a close second.

I'm not a huge fan of TSR/WOTC settings anymore but back in the day I did like Forgotten Realms. If it were a poll for any setting I'd go with Midnight in a second... I doubt I'll run a game in any other setting ever again.

It's nice to run this poll every now and then, see if gamers are changing their minds about old/current settings. The trend of seems to always be a close parity between FR and Planescape, with Grayhawk a close second. It seems to be holding now as well. I voted Planescape without thinking twice, as usual. :)

I've played in most of these but FR is the place I keep coming to. If I had to list them in some type of order:

Forgotten Realms
Greyhawk
Planescape
Mystara
Spelljammer
Ravenloft
Al-Qadim

Never played Birthright. Didn't like Dark Sun. I played through and have DMed on seperate occassions the four Blackmoor books. Good stuff. Temple of the Frog man!

I've only ever gotten into Forgotten realms. Played small bits of Greyhawk, read some dragonlance (I do think it's quite cool), played a smidgeon of mystara and planescape but not enough to know it.

But I've played alot of computer games based in FR and I know the 'lay of the land' quite well. So when I started playing D&D thats where I based my games.
