X2: Castle Amber - is there any 3.5 updates of this module? Love to try it under the current rules...

Someone did a conversion over in the conversion library. If I remember correctly, they did a very thorough job.

Interesting that the only adventure over 50% is X1 and the only other one close is X2.
Presumably most people started out with the Basic Set and played a few of its modules, played X1 because it came with the Expert Set, and then moved on to AD&D. That a lot of the X series modules are of pretty dubious quality compared to both the B series and the AD&D modules of the same level range (A series, C series, I series, S2 & 4, UK series) doesn't help.

I am surprised that the "Master of the Desert Nomads" modules (X4-5 & 10) aren't getting more votes, though. X4, at least, is something of a classic IMO, with several great "Arabian Nights"-flavored set-pieces.

I was just looking at my bookshelves and realized that I have X12 Skarda's Mirror sitting there...don't think I've ever ran it or played it (or even read through it for that matter), but I've got it. :D

Well, I entered D&D through the Holmes Basic Set, ran B1 then moved to AD&D (once the PHB was released). Somehow I still ended up running B2 as well under AD&D. I never touched the X series though. That might be because I had many more choices by the time the Expert Set was released.

I've run X1 and X8 numerous times. X8 is a really good module imho set on the small jungle island of Teki-Nura-Ria where the PC's are hired to go and find out the reason why the Kara-Kara (primitive orcs) have started raiding regional shipping, and to find out who is behind the raids and put a stop to them. The island itself is littered with the ruins of a past civilisation, and is honeycombed by a truly impressive dungeon complex that runs under most of the island (with multiple entry points). I highly recomend it.

I had a lot of fun at one of the entry points as the murals on the walls around the gate show the dance that the PC's have to perform to get the gate to open. I handed my players a photocopy of the mural illustration and had them get up from their seats and actually perform it. They were glaring at me the rest of the session! Totally worth it!

X2 and X3 for me. X2 was mega-fun, but X3 was merely "ok." I really, really, really wanted to play the Desert Nomads series, and other ones like Quagmire because as I learned later on, they're really exploratory modules that build on the default world map and I thought that was really cool.
