Whirlwind Attack and Knock Down

Can a caracter that has these two feats, Whirlwind Attack and Knock Down (of course all the pre requisits too), trip all the adjacent opponents in one Whirlwind Attack??

How about one attack of oportunite because the atacker use the power lounge feat? Can he trip this guy?

What I mean here is does every attack of him can be turned to a trip attempt??

He can try, yes. That's a lot of counter-trip attempts though. :)

Sure.

Does anyone else find it odd that Knock-Down is worse in almost any situation than Improved Trip?

Yeah. I've been trying to rewrite Knock-Down, but I'm not really happy with what I've got so far.

I don't know. I'd personally rather do damage to an opponent then waste my time trying to Trip him. He can just get up from prone on his turn anyway. The only REAL use I have seen with Trip is if an enemy is fleeing and you trip him so he can't get away OR if you have allies near you and you are able to Trip the opponent so your allies get pluses to attack the prone foe.

Other than that, I would much rather prefer doing damage first and then deciding if I want to Trip last. Of course that doesn't mean I think it is worth taking this feat unless I had a character specifically designed with this in mind.

I've considered getting rid of the Knockdown counter-trip, or allowing it to work with Improved Trip, but I haven't really looked into it very hard.

Well, I dug up what I've got so far. Let me know what you guys think. We can continue this in the house rules forum if you'd prefer.

Knock-Down [General]
Your mighty blows can knock foes off their feet.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +2, Improved Trip, Str 15+.
Benefit: Whenever you deal 10 or more points of damage to your opponent with a single attack in melee, you may make a trip attack as a free action against the same target. This free trip attack does not trigger a counter trip from your opponent. The opponent you strike must make a successful Strength check (DC equals damage dealt with the attack) or be knocked down into a prone position. Your opponent gains a +4 bonus to their Strength check for every size category larger they are than you.

Use of this feat cannot be combined with Improved Trip to generate an extra attack, and successful use of this feat does not grant an extra attack through the Cleave or Great Cleave feats.

I though about giving the DC a base of 10 + half damage dealt, or simple a DC of half damage dealt. Any thoughts?

By the way, does anybody know how to insert spaces to simulate paragraph indentation in a post?

Hmmm... I've been playing using the version you just posted, kreynolds.

Now I'm suddenly worried that I've been playing it wrong. I was SURE that the Knockdown feat didn't trigger a counter-trip.

Silly me.
