White Wolf - Ending of World of Darkness

I'm personally hoping that the WoD Core Rules is essentially the "Hunter's Hunted" book for the new setting. Get the normal human hunters right there in the main rulebook, then add the supernatural splatbooks (Vampire, etc.).

I'd prefer that too, but I don't think it's going to happen. The ads for the new WoD in the back of the Gehenna and Apcoalypse books imply pretty strongly that the core book is going to be the Vampire book, with the rest covered in hardback sourcebooks in the following months.

Yes, but...

In going from Vampire:the Masquerade to V:tM 2nd Ed, to V:tM Revised, The revised the system a bit. They also moved the metaplot forward, but did not revise the setting.

Now, they are revising the setting. It will be "World of Darkness 2.0" and "Vampire: the Requiem", the new game, with a new name, for that setting.

Right, I understand completely. What I meant was "don't go out and buy Vampire 2nd edition, it's not the new system".
When I got Vamp Revised, a fellow misunderstood what I told him, and went out and bought Vamp 2, thinking it was the latest version.

Hopefully we'll be seeing less metaplot, and a more pronounced emphasis on setting here.

I like the idea of more setting, but in some ways the metaplot was the setting. The whole thing was about not knowing who was out there trying to take you down. I hope some of that feel remains, but i would agree that it got a little too thick.

There's been plenty of discussion about this on various WW-oriented boards. And the concensus is, judging by the ads, there is going to be a seperate book for the core rules, with each sub-game (Vampire, Werewolf, etc) as a splatbook for it.

The main clue is that the core book is listed seperately from Vampire: the Requiem in the ad's text. If they were the same thing you'd expect to see them on the same line, or even back-to-back wording.
