Who Among Us Are Teachers?

I'm a history major / poli sci minor with aspirations of becoming a jr high or highschool social studies teacher.

that was me, I finished the history major/ poli-sci minor (also anthro minor) and have completed my MS for Secondary Ed.

unfortunately Social Studies is one of the more 'full' education fields in NY (varies greatly by location ... and I'm in one of those areas that's very full)

right now I'm the District Tutor (instead of paying teachers to tutor kids who have been expelled or are medically unable to go to school) they pay me a regular teacher's salary and they come to me at the local B/G club ... most kids who've been expelled don't seem to want to do any work, go figure.

I was certified to teach Art grades K-12 but after the war I had with the State of Vermont I declined to renew the licence. I NEVER got the licence and it is hard to get a job without it but they insisted on my paying the renewal fee.

Whenever I called- "it is in the mail." was the answer.

What are my thoughts on education-

Teachers are under paid and disrespected by the very community they serve. I hope I just had a bad experience but four of five scholls I taught in, art class was used to "babysit" the worst of the worst. It made it hard to teach the wanting and talented students.
