Who are the great artists?

Interesting. His Cthulhu is stunning. So is his Dragon in Archives, or Avandu. Excellent use of exposition.

Man I love that Avadnu cover (and yeah I have a HUGE bias). Crazy thing is he did that picture in like three days. Below are the other thumbnails Komarck did that we didn't go with (but I liked ALL of them). I'm so glad we went into a holding pattern on the Violet Dawn core book as we'll get to use that cover for 4e and we have 90% of the writing already done! :)

Mike is a great guy and was great to work with. I'd love to get him to do more covers in the future.

I'm probably going to lose all credibility on ENW for this, but my two favorites are Dennis Crabapple McClain and Jeremy Jarvis.

After being disappointed by the new 4e covers, I've been wondering about who are the fantasy art artists and who I like.

I have to confess that I find the soft-core approach of Royo and the like to be ... silly.

Yeah.... he's good, but I don't like his faces.

I really like his faces, because they give a sense of the exotic and the strangeness of a different world without throwing you completely out of the realm of the ordinary.

Frazetta is still cool too, I think.

Yea no one does art like Frazetta he's the man! He brings something so primal and raw to his work, others try to imitate it, but they can't match him. Hands down the greatest fantasy artist of all time.

Now for your D&D artists, I'm partial to Otus, and Trampier from the old school, and I love all of Reynolds Freeport stuff.
