Who is Number... 5?

So you've assembled the classic D&D party, Mage, Cleric, Fighter, Thhhhhh.. rogue.

What class do you want to fill the number 5 spot? Bard? Druid? Monk? Who complements the standard party?

If it's a city based I would say a bard (as long as they get 6 skill pnts a lvl)

If wilderness I would say Ranger.

If it's a high magic world a monk (I am firmly convinced that a monk's job is mage killer)

If it's a hack-n-slash a Barbarian is always good.

Depending on the politics of the game a Paladin could be a good choice (besides they make plot hooks easy for the DM)

A combat cleric would work well in most any campaign.

The thing is with the 4 main classes coverd any class will work as a 5th. The best choice will depend on the type of campaign.

Another rogue. Why rogue, you ask? Focus on different things. One goes the charismatic route, the otherone goes the "thief" route. Both end up at the same spot: expert tactician, cooperative strike, and backstab. Oh, the delicious delicious backstab. Doing that much damage is like having another fighter, but with tons more sps.

Bard, they are the most versatile and least focused of all the classes.

Yeah it's always good to have someone disposable around, who really isn't as good at, well, anything as anyone else.
