D&D 5E Who is planning on changing their existing games over to 5e?

I see a lot of talk here and elsewhere about people 'switching' to the new edition of D&D, like some bizarre form of serial monogamy. Granted, not everyone plays more than just D&D but I have difficulty wrapping my head around what appears to be fidelity to only one incarnation of D&D at a time or such. Thinking back to when I was younger, it occurred to me that perhaps a great many people might well be planning on changing their existing games over to the new rules.

So, in short, who is planning on converting their existing game to the next edition? If anyone would care to speak to why you chose to upgrade to the next edition in lieu of continuing whatever version you currently play for other reasons, I'd love to hear them.

I'm half with you. I'm inclined to be a bit promiscuous when it comes to game selection. Due to time constraints permit less frequent gaming, these days, and not everyone in the group getting off on learning new positions rule sets, I expect to have to semi-commit for at least a year at a time. Maybe two.

Additionally, I've got a home brew world that dates to 1985, or so. The real question is whether I intend to convert that to primarily support 5e. At this point, I'd say "yes", although I theoretically retired it a while back. I guess that means my new home brew would target 5e.

Time is finite and there's a lot of stuff to do. I play 4E once a week, and I'm unwilling to devote much more time than that out of my very full life. I do spend a lot of my spare time playing with rules and design outside of that, but I can drop that at-will without having to ruin anyone else's evening. As such, I'm only going to play what, for me, is the absolute best game available, not just whatever new shiny thing appears in the store.

As it stands, I have years worth of 4E to play just in the two campaigns I'm involved in right now. To play anything else, I would have to give up what I'm already enjoying.

It is still really, really early into the playtest for me to make any type of decision. Right now, though I do see some elements I like, I am unlikely to change from my system of choice. With that said, I don't see myself as likely to shy away from the next version of D&D if it continues somewhat along the same track it appears to be now.

5E's 18 months away at least. I've no idea what I'll be dong in 18 months, let alone planning it. Time for an entire adventure path; maybe two.

I was running my world using the Pathfinder rules, though I was not satisfied with that system. I was starting to work on my own home-brew rules combining elements from all the editions (really more of a stew). Then I got the chance to start playtesting the D&DN rules, which is doing the same thing, though maybe not the same way.
Anyway, I plan to start running in my own campaign world using Next just as soon as we have enough to work from.

Way way to early to make that call for us. My homebrew's been going since the early to mid 80s. It's still working for us as is. I do see a lot of things in the early 5e docs and articles that sound promising (and a few things that don't), but we shall see what the end result looks like.

it's too early for me to tell (in terms of we don't have a finished product yet) and since it will be a long long long time before i even have to make that decision, i haven't even begun to consider it.
