Who is the coolest death god(dess)?

Hear hear! Though technically not a death religion, it's a "life" (or rather unlife) religion. I'm playing in an Eberron game and if my current character dies I'm going to make a Blood of Vol devotee, probably a dread necromancer, who is very anti-death, which would be ironic since most of his abilities are death-dealing.

What's to know? He's just a run-of-the-mill Grim Reaper Evil Death God.

Anubis / Guardian of the Dead Gods - he was cool before, but his D&D incarnation as patron/protector of the godisles of the astral, and having shed his godhood and become something rather... different... is just cool

But beyond him, it's a tossup between Annwyn (who scores points for his mimir holding proxy in Sigil), and Wee Jas.

If you dont know anything about him, why like him?

Since I dont like real world deities in my fantasy, my vote goes towards Wee Jas or Vol.

Hel takes no part in Ragnarok, and the dead in Hel help repopulate Midgard afterward. And She is a Goddess, and so qualifies.

Cool death goddesses

My favorites (and the bases of similar deities in my own D&D campaign) are Ereshkigal (Sumerian/Babylonian), Morrigan (Celtic), Hel and the Valkyries (Norse), and of course, Kali (Hindu). Of these, Ereshkigal and Kali are probably the coolest... Seduction and fertility, decay and disease, multifaceted and primal!

Influential male deities of death include Anubis and Osiris (Egyptian), Charon (Greek), Hades/Pluto (Greco-Roman), Yama (Hindu/Buddhist), and Arawn (Celtic). Of these, I like Anubis and Arawn best. What's not to like about bestial and the Wild Hunt!
