Who should be the new James Bond? (merged with "Brosnan Quits" Thread)

I think we really do need a change. My suggestions for the next Bond:

Elijah Wood:

YOU look into those big, blue eyes and tell me you can't see him exchanging witticisms with a Belgian megalomaniac! Wrestling sharks! He's topical!

Idris Elba:

Isn't it about time we had a black Bond? Have you seen this guy in Ultraviolet (the miniseries, not the movie)? He's as hard as granite calculous. No fluffing about with laser watches or nuclear hand grenade cufflinks; he'd rip the villain's jugular out and strange him with the bloody end.

Natalie Imbruglia:

1) Isn't it about time we had a female Bond?
2) We've already had an Australian Bond. Let's just try and forget that he sucked.
3) She already has a genre-appropriate name.
4) She was in a spy-parody already! Johnny English!
5) OK, I just realised 4) wasn't a very good point. Or a very good movie. Bare with me, here.

Connery is still the best, but Brosnan was far better than Lazenby or Dalton, and probably on the same level as Moore.

Before Brosnan, Moore was the original Bond for me, being the one doing them when I was born and continued through the first 13 or so years of my life. Even so, looking back on Moore's work, I would have to say that he wasn't nearly as good as Brosnan. I would also argue that while the Brosnan scripts weren't the best, they weren't half as bad as the Moore scripts, some of which were passable, but most of which might as well have come out of any comic book. I would rank Brosnan as the second best actor in that role, and I think it sucks that he didn't get the chance to play it a few more times before being retired.

I think the new James Bond should be played by an African ethnic actor.
Yet another film series they should turn over to Samuel L Jackson.

As for Bronson, well Goldeneye is at the top of my Bond movie list running a close 2 to Goldfinger, but the other tree he has done were lackluster at best. They have just run out of things for him to do and unique villians for him to kill. Only something unexpected and exciting will get my attention again (like the Samuel L Jackson joke above, I'd go see that Bond movie). Bond has done it all already, they aren't any better off than the guys who just want to keep remaking Thunderball (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0086006/ ).

It seems Jude Law is on top of the wishlist at the moment. I could certainly go with Jude Law if I they are trying to get a younger actor. Jude is 31.

I'm not sure I like the whole premise of making Bond younger, though. Bond's always been a middle-aged guy. This smacks to much of the xXx sales-pitch: "This is not your dad's agent movie." To this I only have to reply "If it was good enough for my dad - it's certainly good enough for me."

Kind of liked Vin, though. Actually looking forward to Riddick.

You're going to have stirred up a hornet's nest with that... I think Dalton was by far the best. The scripts and films he was involved with weren't that good, but his portrayal of the character was better than any of the other four.
