Who or what was your first RPG character? ( Pen n paper of course ) and where are they today?

Mine is Belvin Broadnose the Dwarven Fighter from the 1st edition AD&D. I think he came around at about 1987 or so and I still have a copy of him in my D&D packet. His first adventure was the village of Homlet and clearing out the moat house. Since that time he has been in various campaigns, where he fought against the Giants, Plunged into the underdark after the elusive Drow and ended up playing a role in the killing of Lloth. He's been in Monty Haul campaigns, he's been in Role Playing campaigns, he's gone to FR and foguht at Bloodstone Pass, freeing the barony, surviveing the assasian's run, killed the Witch King, travelled into the Abyss and defeated Baphomet and Orcus, then in the end killing Tiamat ( Whew..) His last adventure was Return to the Tomb of Horrors where he nearly met his end by the claws of a Winter Wight but survived to thwart Acerak yet again ;)

He is currently level 23 right now, but he has been as high as 25. He has gone between the levels of 19 and 20 more times then I can count due to nefrious level drains, he's been crowned a king twice, has had been made a millionaire many times and been flat broke just as many. He's done and seen it all...

Sadly, about 6 months ago I had to retire him. My DM had informed me that Belvin can no longer restore lost Constiuation points with Wishes or Magic Tomes and Potions of longevity had stopped working for me a while ago. Belvin being 978 years old and despite his level and all his treasure, my CON is 9.

Belvin was my first character and I have been quoted numerous times saying, he will be last. I can't help but feel sorta sad, knowing that I can never really play Belvin again like I use to, and I'll convert him to 3E when the epic handbook comes out. While I was mulling over this, I began to wonder...... What ever happens to player's first PCs? Are they easily forgotten or are they like my case, where they somehow survive ultimate doom long enough to become treasured memories?

My first character...

Aleon Mithril, who started as a lowly OD&D fighter. Over the years I've become very attached to him, and athough I haven't played him for a few years now, he's become an important NPC in my campagin setting, now being a high ranking knight and advisor to the king. He never reached epic-levels, having settled at 16th(ish) for some time now.

So I wouldn't say I'd forgotten him... :)

I started with 2e Darksun.

My first character was a Psion/Preserver. I rolled a 19 and a 20 for my stats.

We only played for about a month (4 sessions) then my DM left town.

I decided to be the new DM but didn't have any DS books so the campaign died. But last year I bought all his DS stuff he even threw in the characters and notes. I can't wait to play 3e Darksun.

I can't even remember the name of my first D&D character. One of my friends saw me playing the old Marvel Super Heroes RPG by TSR and laughed. "That's not a role playing game." And proceded to show me AD&D. I really enjoyed Tolkein, Moorcock, Robert Howard, and others so thought, "Cool." Rolled up a fighter and went into a dungeon. We didn't even have regular dice, just d6's. For attacks I'd roll 3d6, for damage, depending on the weapon, 1d6 or 2d6 with modifiers. Anyway, I wound up stumbling through some summoning circles. The first summoned Orcus. The second, Asmodeus. Suffice it to say I died quickly. My reaction? Cool....

I'm pretty sure my first character was made at Boy Scout camp. D&D is the only good thing Scouts exposed to me, come to think of it. Anywho, it was a wizard named Chastazar (no, not a soda pop) and my first adventure was with a group of experienced (veterans is not a term I'd apply to most of them) players. We tackled DL14-Dragons of Triumph.

Now, if you haven't played this rather dangerous finale to the Dragonlance saga, then I have to say you're missing something good. As I recall, one PC was trampled to death by the sheer number of draconians at one point. Another (BadMojo, in fact) was a thief-acrobat who was killed (questionably) by some kind of trap when he picked at a gem on a pillar.

Fortunately, Chastazar survived. I don't remember doing much except firing my crossbow at the dizzying number of creatures. I don't even remember casting any spells! The whole experience was awesome. It was dark, the occasional bug was being squashed inside the then-pristine-looking Monster Manuals (I & II), and we rolled dice on a ratty picnic table. Ah, I can still smell the nighttime fragrance of the outdoors. Game on!

My first D&D character was Pastie the Fighter (yes I know...) back in 1970...
He had 18 Str, Con and Dex, and that was back in teh day when it was 3d6 and we worked down the stat list not assigning to waht we wanted them to be...
As good as his stats were, his dice rolls were never very lucky, we played if you died before the end of the session you got no exp (we were young and it was early days), so inevitably he kept getting resurected but never going up the levels, he met his demise at the hands of Green Dragon in its lair...

As a comical note myself and the other player had 3 characters each, the other two of mine were called ITT and Green Plant...
As I said we were young and new to RPG's, as was much of the world really, and getting RPG products over here in the UK was as much of a quest in itself...

Frog. He was a Bullywug Knight. I was playing a bunch of Chrono Trigger at that time. He got eated by a red dragon at first level. Stupid DM. I think I might just have to get him out again.

My first character...

Welrain Firedaughter, a lowly female OD&D Elf circa 1989. Had a penchant for using a spear and a short short.

Met her first death on her conversion to AD&D 2nd, quite sterotypically, the Wizard in the party cast a Fireball, while standing at the back of the party, which proceeded to anhiliate everyone.

Most memorable...A new player (a known Munchkin) and his new character, a Paladin, had joined the game. While exploring a dungeon the party thief, think kendar, took a liking to the Paladins holy symbol. A little later, while wandering down a dungeon corrider, the thief made a grab for said item. Apparently the Paladin was cursed, he would turn into a large dragon whenever his holy symbol was removed. His transformation resulted in his death and the sudden deaths of Welrain, the thief and the party fighter as they were crushed against the corridor walls.

Bastard demiliches ate my hands.

My first charaterS (it was first edition, and we only had three people, so we doubled up.) I played AD&D with my grandma and some neighbors who had played AD&D back in the day with my uncle. Anyhow, onto the characters.

I played Nightshade and Diehard McFalidor, twin brothers of magic and might, respectively. Nightshade was always my favorite, and got to be a 10th level magic-user. Diehard met an unfortunate end in the Tomb of Horrors--he was a 9th level Paladin.

I had a lot of fun playing, even though there was practically no role-playing and it was all hack-n-slash. All of our characters were blatant examples of munchkinism, we rolled up stats by rolling 3d6 twelve times PER ABILITY SCORE rerolling any 1s or 2s. Needless to say, prior to any deaths or ability drains, my lowest score was 16. Oh those were the days...LOL. (That was actually only about 5years ago...)

I'm good with names aren't I? :D

Edit: I forgot some of the adventures I went on with this dynamic duo!

We started off by walking around Hommlett a little bit, and soon marched off to go guard a caravan heading to the Keep on the Borderlands. After lots of fun in the caves of chaos, we went in and killed stuff in the moathouse--fun stuff. Continuing to fight evil, we decided to go smash the hell out of the Temple of Elemental Evil--that occupied our time for 4 or 5 levels. We didn't end up fighting the huge battles with Zuggtmoy or anyone else fun because that would've just taken a long time and we were all pretty tired of that Temple. (in fact, i only know about Zuggtmoy from Nodwick and recently borrowing the quest from my old DM) Our next adventure was The Quest for the Heartstone methinks... a fun OD&D module. Then we ventured into the Tomb of Horrors and we never finished--the group just sort of split up.

We didn't leave the tomb without losing all of our stuff though! Oh no no no, we walked back for a day or two to Hommlett completely naked. Damn demilich... i WANT MY STUFF BACK!

Barak, my fighter. A real CE bastard, who wouldn't even stop fighting to help the (practically dead) party magic-user (not wizard, 'cause this was back in the ODnD red box days). Yeah, no comments on the name... I was 16 and reading The Belgariad. ;)
