Who's got the right stuff for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 1990s?

Not Harry Potter. Ron Weasly.

He'd be following in the footsteps of other "Missed fame by this much" characters such as the original LXG's invisible man (Rodney Skinner instead of Griffin) and their vampire (Mina Harker)

-Mina Murray, even. She took back her maiden name. But it's true what you say. Most of the heroes in League have lost their hero-status. They're just ordinary people (with special gifts/curses).

John McClain -- Die Hard movies
Jack Ryan -- Clancy novels/movies
James Bond?

John McClane is important. Lot's of personality in that man. Very pulpy.

Jack Ryan is a bit dull, I think, but still a popular character. Who am I to judge?

James Bond. Why not? M (or the capacity at least) is in the original series. That would be Pierce Brosnan Bond of Golden Eye (one of the best).

-Woody (of Toy story) in his prime.

In that case, you probably won't heroes of the previous decade. Is this campaign concept for a 2000s LXG, so you want 90s heroes? If you are looking to do a 90s LXG, then you need heroes from the 80s.

How about a retired Q (the 007 gadget master)? Or maybe he's "on lone" to the LXG?

This is a really cool idea, and it's got me thinking of running a one-adventure d20 Modern game.

For villains, you could do a "League of Horror":

Freddie Krueger (Nightmare on Elm Street series)
Jason ?? (Friday the 13th series)
Micheal Myers (Halloween series)
An old Norman Bates (Psycho)
Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
An "Arnold-style" terminator

Yeah. Let's say the action takes place in 1993. That means Charlene McGee would be say 20 years old by now. It also means Harry Potter is... what 4?

Q is a great pick.

League of Horrors is quite interesting. I'm not very familiar with those but I guess it matters little since they are just a bunch of psycho killers. They can pop up and menace the PCs at any time.

In 1992 Chuck played himself in Sidekicks. :D

The Frenchie assassin from the movie 'the Professional'. La Feme Nikita's character or the Brigett Fonda american version of the same. Instead of the Connors, have the actual Terminator (arnold) machine make a show to do muscle work. Jackie Chan can do comedic effects from some of his early characters. Marty McFly can use his flying car to help out (though technically he is from late 80's). I think Q of James Bond would make the best tech help. Fat Bastard would be a cool member as well.

Victor Nettoyeur is great! And so is Marty McFly, at age 26.

A cool thing about a LoH is that some of them (at least the first three) are arguably unkillable. Oh, you can defeat them, drop them, but they *will* come back -- and the PCs could even know it.

I'm sure at least one Dirty Harry movie came out in the 90s, so him.
The Ninja Turtles.
Bruce Wayne.
Eric Draven (the Crow.)

Not everyone in the original LXG comes from the same decade, do they? So you might want a slightly broader range.

Personally, I'd take the Predator itself rather than Arnie's character from the movie -- give it a role similar to Mr. Hyde.
