Who's Playing What on Fantasy Grounds?

Fantasy Grounds has sent along its latest usage stat for 2016, showing which games folks are playing on its platform. As usual, 5E is out way ahead with a whopping 57% share, followed by Pathfinder. Then come Savage Worlds and D&D 3.5, followed by D&D 4E - essentially several versions of D&D, plus Savage Worlds hold the top five spots. Other notable contenders include FFG's Star Wars, Call of Cthulhu, Iron Kingdows, and Rolemaster Classic. In the below charts, "Core RPG" is Fantasy Ground's default core module which allows you to play a range of different games, rather than one of the specific packages.

Not exactly, they did explain to me what the problem was but currently it can't be fixed. Not their fault, but the fault of those who provide the cable in our area. I hope it is fixed by next year.

Im always surprised at how low World of Darkness is on this list considering it is multiple active gamelines. I think part it might be that you cant take Fantasy Grounds numbers as gospel for the entire industry, just games their system supports well.

I was thinking about the same. Obviously, the whole mess around past WW/CCP didn't help it and a lot of people don't even heard about Onyx Path/By Night Studios outside the WoD community. They still think WW/WoD is dead. They don't know that both WoDs are running and healthy with a lot of new material. However I agree, these charts on EnWorld are just a part of reality. These virtual tabletops support D&D style games best which really appreciate intelligent mapping, tokens, statblocks etc. I absolutely won't take them as an overall description of the RPG world and community.

I think a lot more people plays WoD and CofD than these charts suggest. They just play it on tabletop, or Skype, or Google hangouts, or play by post, or in LARP. WoD simply doesn't really need and elaborated virtual tabletop, since it's more focused on social interaction and theater of the mind style of play. But of course WoD nowhere near the cultural recognition outside it's fanbase as it was in the '90s/early 2000s. We will see how the new WW and the new edition of the games would change it for good or bad.

I would expect any game could improve its chances, i.e. number of players, if it released consumable content for the DM and player. Otherwise, I found FG to cumbersome to work with when developing it from scratch.
