Why are there so few shirts, vests, and vestements?

I once had a magic ummmm ring, you see, that you might wear under a codpiece. Third ring slot anyone?

Still only allowed 2 rings. Be they earrings, finger rings... toe rings... nip... ah.censored again. :)

You know with the mummified hand allowing the extra ring, you'd have thought someone else would have done odder items to do the same effect by now.

Did you just say the PLAYERS don't wear pants? Where are you playing again?:]

EDIT:
Gosh! To slow. ThirdWizard already noticed. (I hope his Players wear pants.)

I would join if they are some of these hot , pro-game women I hear about....I think they surface about as frequently as a Tarrasque, and the ones I see around my FLGS would scare me more

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that relatively few classes wear "armor", and D&D rules consider shirts to be the same as armor, if it provides some kind of armor bonus.

Well, I can kind of see where this makes sense because shirts have no check penalty, arcane spell failure or max dex. I'm inclined to think that the double-slot fill is a bit much, but I'm seeing in my group now where shirts could be useful.

Our Yuan-ti Archer has a dex so high that no existing armor could give her more benefit than her dex bonus. So she's looking into shirts as an alternative.

It just strikes me as odd that there aren't pre-existing options.
