Ideas...

...are you using any kind of cookie blocking software?

...are you on a network with a proxy server? Why this would matter I don't know.

...would you be willing to try it with a different browser like netscape and let us know what happens?

A couple of you guys have something in common...

AOL.

Here's an interesting quote from the vBulletin message boards:

"The problem is that AOL runs its users through a proxy and therefore changes IPs on each access, thus preventing the user from keeping the same session."

From the discussion here:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...&highlight=poll* session invalid&pagenumber=4

it looks like possibly an AOL problem with the developers saying they're looking into the issues for the next vBulletin upgrade.

Huh. You know, that makes sense. But then how come signing out and back in doesn't always fix it? Shouldn't that reset the session to the crrent IP?

I think they were suggesting that each call for a page goes out on a different IP or something. That you're kind of changing IPs mid-stream.

Another thread I read later suggested running IE with AOL in the background, that maybe it was AOL's browser. Don't know though ...

Well, I don't know what a firewall would do to it, but that could definately be it. I work at Microsoft, so no, I am certainly not using AOL :) But, also, I have no idea what sort of crazy firewall my stuff has to go through, so that could be it.
