Why do a homebrew?

Thanks BardStephenFox! Knowledge checks will finally be useful.

I always want to have players use bardic knowledge, but they never play bards.

I think I had players like Luddite's, because our other DM had the same problem with his homebrew (with all the same players). (He was the one that worked with my campaign, so I worked with his.)

Again, everyone, thanks for the feedback. ENworld is a great resource. I should have been using it sooner.

And Scarred Lands has indeed provided some rich plunder. There be plenty o' loot in them thar Scarred Lands sea-lanes, me hearties! Arr...

Bloodstorm remains my favourite spell of all time. My players all freaked out the first time little Arrafin cast THAT puppy.

I've yet to use that. But mostly I'm saving it for undead spellcaster or Blood Witches. They deserve this kind of spell.

Why is my campain a homebrew?

Well it might not be if there was a published D&D setting that keeps at least almost all of the core rules, in which the whole world was a giant archepligo and the money system was based in pearls among other things. But there is no such published setting. So to get the world of my vision I create it myself. Also it allows me to throw any new rules in that I want without worrying about them clashing with the world for it's My world.
