I mostly lurk, however, I am trying to get more involved with the community. Since I left the states, this board gives me some much needed "grounding" in the gaming community. I like to hang around in General and the Art forums and occasionally make forays into others. I like the fact that I can pretty much find something on any edition of D&D or at least discuss it with someone.

I like the atmosphere and the fellow posters (who create said atmosphere). Gamers are cool people to chat with. There are tons of interesting things around, not just conversations. Our Art forum is great, though I like most of the forums around.

Seek advice and then give it back. Get ideas, meet new people and hear the latest going on in the d20 biz.

I hang out in General and Off-Topic forums. I've also started participating in a PbP game which I'm enjoying!

Why? Because when I comment on non-WotC d20 or OGL/SRD-based game products here, I don't get a lot of blank faces that I get from posting on the Wizards' messageboards. Nor do I get such responses as "Yeah it's there, but I'd rather WotC do it."

Most often, I need to step away from the fan-club atmosphere.

I'm an avid play by poster and so the vast majority of my posts end up in those forums, but I like to venture into the computer, general and off-topic forums regularly. I often check the 10 on the front page and jump in when something catches my eye. Once in a while I wander over into other groups especially if I have a rules question or am looking for a conversion. I'm much to busy to stay current with the stuff discussed in the media forum. I rarely get to watch tv and most movies I see are long since dropped off the front page as everyone else has seen something more current.

As to why, its the games. I started coming to Eric's old site within the first few months of its existance, but being naturally shy I didn't start posting until much much later. Eventually, when my opportunities for face to face gaming dropped off to nearly none, I started joining play by post games.
