That may be true, but something be old also has no bearing on something else's value.I still do, because something being old has no bearing on its value.

Which means age should not be a factor here at all. That may be true, but something be old also has no bearing on something else's value.
With you pivoting away from what you said before I'll take as your point being indefensible even by you.Having over 500 statblocks to re-skin seems more like art to me. With the benefit that you nail WotC's intended CR every single time.
these guides have been around a while now, and classes these days are definitely more complex than they were then (and to a lesser degree that is true for monsters too)I'm not sure why this is such a huge deal. The editions released in the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's didn't have any formulas and yet plenty of new monsters appeared in official, 3rd party, and fan material. Same with spells, magic items, classes, etc.
I'm not the one that said that since TSR era D&D did not have rules for monster creation, 5E 2024 D&D shouldn't either.Which means age should not be a factor here at all.
Emphasis mine. With you pivoting away from what you said before I'll take as your point being indefensible even by you.
So I stay with my statement -- it has been demonstrated in similar games that it is clearly possible to give strong guidance in order to help GMs who want to create their own monsters have guidelines towards fitting in the math.
The idea that you can only reskin is false.
You're right. I was conflating your posts with someone else's unconsciously. Sorry.I AM NOT SAYING OTHERWISE
And nobody cares about your opinion any more than they did in 1984. Reality is the publisher decided that they didn't want to include it the same as they didn't include a formula to make new spells, magic items, or classes yet every one seems to be fine with the lack of instruction on how to homebrew classes, spells, and magic items. Yet somehow monsters are an outrage. It has been typical for D&D for 25 years. it is a useful tool to have.
I really, really hate it when people decide "they did/didn't do it in 1984" is a good reason to make decisions now. No one cares about what they did in 1984.
Actually, a lot of people do.No one cares about what they did in 1984.
Good heavens! You do realize where you are, right? I think I’m coming down with case of the Vapors… Where’s my fainting couch? No one cares about what they did in 1984.
