ok some questions from Bob

Bob the barbarian rips of the arm of a solar, can he use it to overcome the damage reduction of a Balor?

Bob the barbarian, finds this nice set of Pink Fullplate. He descides to wear it to a party. Gloin his dwarven fighter buddy sees him in this outragous outfit, and descides to hit him with a chicken. the pink plate happens to be painted adamantide. does the dmg reduction from the barbarian cless and the adamantide stack?

No. The creature must use its own natural weapon. The arm of a solar, unattached to said solar, is no longer a natural weapon but an improvised club.

No. DR doesn't stack. You apply the best one.

This made me think a moment. The answer, however, is no. The door is not armor or natural armor. Brilliant energy does not ignore cover.

It does, depending on the source of the cover, because the first effect of a brilliant energy weapon is "A brilliant energy weapon ignores nonliving matter."

A wall is nonliving matter, so a brilliant energy weapon ignores it.

I agree with Patryn (as I usually do), but I just know any minute now someone's going to pipe up with 'but that's flavour text', so I'll give my stock answer in advance: Says who?

glass.

No, I won't say it's flavor text, but I do say that the following sentences clarify it further as to what AC bonuses specifically do not apply. They specifically limit it to armor and shields. The question you have to ask yourself, punk*, is "Does cover fall under Armor and Shield, or under Other?" The alternative that Patryn has chosen is None of the above. Of course, applying this enhancement as Patryn suggests to thrown weapons or missile weapons causes such weapons to fall through the planet and rest comfortably in the earth's core (gravitational pull and whatnot). Actually, getting your weapon disarmed does that same thing.

* Of course spoken in a Dirty Harry voice. I just can't seem to type, "The question you have to ask yourself . . ." without putting in "punk." :D

Whips are messed up, they are treated like melee weapons except that they do not threaten and provoke AOO when used, just like a ranged weapon. Wotc, make up your mind!!

Don't get me started on whips. It would have taken WotC all of 10 minutes to do a quick search online about how to use a whip. They would have quickly realized that using a whip correctly has very little, if anything, to do with the strength of the weilder. You are essnetially throwing the end of the whip at your target - it just happens to be attached a long cord that you hold.

It should be a ranged weapon with a fixed range. Period.
