Wicht - Final Ruling on Holy Day + Holy Warrior?

Wicht, I would like to know what you have decided. I can't see how having to post the power with the action will help all it does is slow a match down since a Light will just wait for his/her opponent to post, heck if one is really unscrupulous you could just make sure they post the first move in combat and then the forfeit clause forces them to post first.

Unless Lights have to post first first which I think would be an unwarranted restriction, in combination they are only a step better than Dirty Trick (possibly, Dirty Trick can't be DT'd or bribed or in the opponnents Sig Style) and Lights dont get stackable Holy Days.

Still, I would like to here a ruling on this since I have no idea how or when to use the power (other than with my move) at the moment and I am sure the same situation will come up with other Lights.

I don't quite see the problem? The Dark fighters have the same advantage in their Sneaky Trick/Unholy Warrior combination PLUS they get to last. Yakuza can void any Holy Day with their Dirty Trick. Thus the only path without a countermove to Holy Day is really only Honor (and Honor gets Chi Strike later).

While we are on the topic of rules questions: I know that, as a warrior of darkness, I can only advance in tier when I defeat a light or honor warrior.
However, am I right in the view that I can advance in rank by defeating warriors of other types?

E.g., currently, I'm a dark apprentice 1. Could I beat up a sash/yakuza/other dark warrior/white belt to advance to dark apprentice 2?

Darkness- Yes, thats how the rules read, you can advance within a tier fighting whoever, however you can only advance a tier by beating up a light fighter or honor fighter.

If you like we can duke it out after my current match is over.

Ok - here is my decision about Holy Day -

Holy Day is an initative determining move, similar to dirty trick, sneaky trick and chi strike. A fighter with Holy Day must post first unless the other fighter has chi strike. Chi Strike still takes precedence. If both fighters have Holy Day and neither one has access to chi strike, the one with the higher rank will post first until he has used his holy day.

And Darkness; you are correct in your assessment.

Why should the combination Holy Day/Holy Warrior force fighters move first, while the combination Sneaky Trick/Unholy Warrior gives the fighters the advantage of moving last?

Because you can't use sneaky trick to gain an automatic round win, but you can use Holy Day to make yourself immune to your opponents attack and thus gain an auto-win.

When you consider that the style of the day is considered BEFORE the location and that the use of a signature style grants immunity while a signature location does not, it is clear that the Holy Day/Holy Warrior is far more powerful a combination than the Sneaky Trick/Unholy Warrior.

My mistake... I misread the rules and thought the Unholy Warriors gained the location of the figh as signature styles and not (which should have been obvious to me) signature location. :D
