Will Essentials do well?

Ah what? None of the existing classes are getting changed, they are being added to. Saying that adding some builds with no dailies (that existing players don't have to use) is a big change as 3.0 to 3.5 (where, for example, some peoples class skills disappeared, meaning a rebuild) is not true IMO.

We have only seen a few previews so far. I'll wait to see months down the road what 4e looks like when the essentials class books come out.

I understand your point about these limited previews we've seen and not thinking they are a big change, because they can be freely ignored and they won't effect any other characters in existence. But I think the change is going to be the way WOTC deals with new classes. We've already seen changes to the way some class work.

But I guess just like I didn't have to change my 3.0 Ranger's skills when upgrading to 3.5, no one will have to use the essentials version of magic missile. They can keep it like it was before the errata.

I don't have a link or anything

That's too bad. I like to read things like that myself, and it would have been very interesting to see official and readily available first hand information.

Sigh ... well, it's all a pipe dream. I guess I have to buy Hasbro to get the info I want. Better start saving!

Steve may be right to, we should have 700k+ people this year I believe as its almost completely sold out and we have more space.

Whoa! Hang on ... is there something about PAX I have completely missed? 700k people at a con?

Is it a large virtual element to PAX that ratchets up the numbers like that? I knew Penny Arcade was popular, but that popular? It's mind-boggling!

EDIT: hang on, I realised that you probably mean to write 70k+, which is still totally mondboggling and cool and enormous ... and a bit more in the ballpark I could see being realistic.

60k is about right for last year's PAX as I recall. Despite the name though, PAX is about more than just Penny Arcade, it's the entire gamer zeitgeist wrapped up in a con. They've tapped a vein which is only going to keep gushing I think (and here's one gamer crossing his fingers for a PAX UK sometime).

Yeah sorry typo, correcting it now. 70k :), last year was between 58-63 depending on who you want to believe. This year they added the Anex, Shariton Hotel and Benaroya Hall (home of the Symphony). Of course they still have all of the Convention Center itself
