Will genasi be in the FR handbook?

Not sure what to think? Maybe too much change. Its in lands I never paid attention too and these new ones I may still not pay attention too. Still feels like they got carried away with changes. I'm still hoping Azuth survived as some kind god or DEMI-GOD. Why change demi-god? Seriously, are the writers so anti-religion that demi-god the word gets censored out?

The first sneak peek of the Realms sounded good but this one I'm not sure which way my like/dislike is heading.

The Forgotten Realms is dead, long live the Forgotten Realms?

The more we hear about 4E FR the more it seems to me that it's a discontinuation of Forgotten Realms and an introduction of a new setting. After reading that it's difficult to see how it's really going to be the same setting in anything but name.

I think that is the gist of why they changed it. They're trying to get people to spread out and get away from the popular areas focused on by the novels. My old home campaign was centered between Hillsfar and Myth Drannor, but with all these changes I might move them south. I will bring it up to my players when the time comes and see what they decide. We have already decided to start new with PCs being descendants from the old game. Most other players I know in my area play/played in areas set around Waterdeep, Cormyr, Myth Drannor, and other places in the northern half of the map. Too much change in popular areas would likely turn a lot of players off so that is probably why those areas didn't suffer as bad. I like it from a literary angle, it feels different but still the same for the most part. I can't wait to see the actual book to see what else has change but not mentioned yet.

Its a lot of information to digest, but based on my reading, if genasi are not in the MM, they will definitely be in the FRCS.

Way back when, someone from WotC said that drow and one other race would get PC treatments in the main player's book for 4e FR. There was a fair amount of speculation that it would be genasi; this seems likely to be true.

I'm finding this little tidbit a tad interesting...

"Some members of Cormyr's remaining War Wizards, having lost access to the Art, begin cross-training with the Purple Dragons in swordplay and martial defense. In years to come these swordmages will prove invaluable against neighboring aggression in the region."

I wonder if the FRCS will have this as a new core class, or if we will be waiting for the
Martial or Arcane book.

*edit*
Doh, and yes, it's looking like Genasi will be the mystery race for the FRCS.
I wonder if that will be revealed at DnD Xperience with a premade
character?

Hopefully between the 4e demos and the Living FR event we will find out a lot of interesting information. I also hope that one of the future previews will be the updated map in some form after our mentioning it.

The more i read about the new Realms the more i love it! I think the all the new opportunities for adventure sound great and i'm pretty sure me and my players will have a blast discovering the newly unearthed secrets of their familiar world with their long time characters (granted, a bit of time traveling will be needed but that fits neatly in my ongoing campaign).

And i too think that the swordmage bit was a hint that we can expect the class to turn up in the FR players guide ;)

Found this on the Critical Hits coverage from the seminar at D&DXP.
