Will you be buying the 'Wizards Presents' previews?

Since it has been stated that they are not releasing info now *because* they want us to buy the preview books, I think it's a pretty safe bet that there's some crunch in there.

But since I *do* plan to buy the 4e core books, I see no need to have redundant info. (Although it has been said that there will be essays on development, so it won't all be redundant.)

So, these books will be "bookstore reads" for me. I'll visit my local Barnes & Noble when they come out, skim through the parts I want, and then put them back on the shelf.

See, in the old days, these previews would have appeared in Dragon magazine, and I wouldn't have to pay extra for previews. I certainly don't intend to start now.

Not interested. They cannot be 4E, as the play testing ha not even started and they have been written/released already, and frankly designer insight bored me to tears.

And it looks like a lot of such books are coming out in the next few months.

Well, at least I can save some money

As for 4e: when it was announced, I was prepared to buy it sight-unseen. Since then, I have heard of one specific change that shifts me into the "absolutely not" camp. I'm now waiting for January, when the PHB will be finalised, at which point my decision will be made. If this change is implemented as has been described then I won't buy 4e, I won't ever play 4e, and I may stop playing any game called "Dungeons & Dragons" completely. On the other hand, if they change their minds, then I will buy the core rulebooks to show my support for this decision.

What is it that so upsets you that you couldn't just houserule it differently?

It does seem extreme but I can think of a few things like that in 3e that really upset me. For example, I hate the concept of level drain so much that I will never "level down" a character. And if my DM has a problem with that then I'll either make a new character or quit the game.

That's, um, extreme. I wrack my brain to think of what this could possibly be...the Asmodeus kerfuffle?

That's the one. However, as Piratecat (rightly) noted, this isn't the place to discuss my reasons, so can we leave it at that?

You got Dragon for free? Good deal!

Not to mention that none of us have any way of knowing how Wizards would have handled previews had Dragon not been canceled. If they think the books are a worthwhile product now, they almost certainly would have done so then.
