Although I know every bit of useful information in those books will be all over EN World about two hours after they hit the shelves, I will buy those books simply because I just absolutely have to have them in my grubby little paws.

I'll buy them for sure. I don't think that they will contain much in the way of rules, but as I posted elsewhere I'm quite interested in their content nevertheless.

I'll also buy 4e.

Buying a preview? Thats just nuts.

Are you guys/gals that into WotC that now they can get you to pay for a preview of what might or might not make it into 4E?

Thats like paying for Nvidia Beta Drivers or a demo of an upcoming game or a travel brochure for that matter.
WotC should be making these for free, so that we can decide if we like whats possibly coming in 4E.

Actually, I'd say it's more like buying a 'making of' documentary. Maybe it doesn't go into detail of how it's made, (if such documentaries did they'd have to spend half their time explaining the techniques being used), but it gives insights. I'm hoping the same will be said of these books, given the articles described as being in them.

Man, I ain't paying for advertising. We'll all inevitably hear every fact the preview books contain about an hour after they're released, anyway.

Yeah, by all accounts, this is pretty much what the books are.

I do enjoy designers' notes and whatnot, so it's possible I'll pick them up. On the other hand, my money is exceedingly tight, so perhaps not.

That could be cool.

However, I don't buy "making of X" documentaries by themselves. I might buy them bundled with "X", but I don't buy them separately.

And generally, "making of X" docs that come out before "X" does are free, if you happen to subscribe to the right cable channel, service, magazine, or whatever.

I voted "No, but I will be buying 4E". I figure I can wait for whatever 4E has to offer. I'm even hoping that I can hang out long enough that I can buy a second printing of the PHB so that I can avoid a lot of the errors that will obviously be in the 1st printing*.

I think my group will still be playing 3.xE for a while after 4E is out. We'll switch eventually but I don't think that 3.xE is anywhere near broken as 2E was when the new edition came out.

* Please note that I am not trying to flame or make any complaints about the editing standards at WotC. I am just basing this off of the experience I had with 3E.
