Will you be buying the 'Wizards Presents' previews?

You got Dragon for free? Good deal!

Not to mention that none of us have any way of knowing how Wizards would have handled previews had Dragon not been canceled. If they think the books are a worthwhile product now, they almost certainly would have done so then.

The previews were at no extra cost. I'd have had that magazine with or without previews.

But hey, if you'd like to pay for the preview - more power to you!

Previews? What previews?

I voted will buy, might then buy 4e.

Although if it is as bad as described I think its safe to say I should have voted "l**e h**l!"

Sorry if that offends anyone but I'd rather they provide actual footage of this games table in action especially if it updates the existing d&d demo so it encourages people to "want" to know more not just advertise preview books that detail their decisions and artwork which makes the Incarnum book look almost reasonable instead of a load of ********.

Honestly, it feels like we're being asked to buy some sort of promotional material but it depends on the exact content; the stuff we'll be seeing in the preview is not finalized so it's not like it's a real preview, either. I like reading about the design process; I think that it's fascinating. I'd be vastly more fascinated by the crunch of a complete class or race and seeing what led to those decisions. I might get it, but more likely I'll just look at it at B. Dalton.

It's very likely I'll be picking up 4E, though.

I will be buying the core three 4e books so I get the full picture. (As for the rest of 4e, that's up for grabs.)

As for the preview stuff; I'm interested in the 'why they did it this way' aspect that the books seem to be selling themselves as but I'm not sure if I am interested enough to pay that much. I'll need to see them first and get a better idea of the mix of 4e cruch and behind the scenes stuff.

Well, to actually contribute:

Probably not the previews, 90% yes to 4e, and I missed anything from PC about not talking about Asmodeus (will he appear if I say his name again?) and wasn't that concerned anyway so my apologies and dropped.

:)

It's not Asmodeus, but rather the way that the intended use of Asmodeus in 4e happens to intersect with my real-world religious beliefs. So, we hit the "no religion" rule.

It's not something to worry about. It's just that I didn't want to state my intentions for buying 4e as "either definately yes or definately no" without further comment... and then didn't want to say I wasn't discussing the matter without some sort of explanation... and so ended up posting three times about how I'm not going to post on the matter! Um, oops? :)

Oh, i remember the nature of the kerfuffle, just that I kinda went "Huh. Man, I'm way more bothered by hints of Thor as a major god, trapped all alone in D&D without Odin or Freya or even any VIKINGS" and clicked away. I guess for me, myth is myth* and a D&D world needs ones of its own, but I can see where touching on one's actual beliefs (whatever they are) could be touchy.

But hey, you really wanna stick it to those 4e guys about it? Keep playing 3.5 D&D, they don't like much about that edition.

* I want to be explicitly clear here that this means myth in the sense of "fantastical culture-defining stories of supernatural events", rather than "falsehoods".

You have a poll with 6 options, but no "Maybe, I'd like to take a look at them first?"

So I didn't vote.

Agreed.

And that's the answer for both the preview books AND for 4e - I don't commit to spending $90+ sight unseen - I want to know what I'm buying before I spend the money.

I don't plan on buying the preview books. I will read the highlights here on EN World and maybe flip though it at the FLGS, but I'm saving my money for the PHB and DMG.
