A not-insignificant part of the 3.x hold out from here have already moved to the paizo forums and have left enworld behind. They feel unwelcome here.

That's interesting.

I came back to ENWorld because 4E had been announced, but since I've been here I've felt like it's been pretty unwelcoming to 4E fans.

I suppose the forum thus represents the all around unhappy middle.

Which is probably as it should be.

On the other hand I do want to know where the ecstatically happy about 4E forum is.

I'm still around only because I still so strongly WANT to be pro-4E. WotC just keeps making it very difficult for me.

This pretty much sums up my feelings, as well. Some elements that I've seen intrigue me, but there are more that bug me.

Essentially I haven't made up my mind yet, but I might buy it once I see the SRD. There is always True20 to fall back on.......

As for the Paizo boards, yeah, many there do feel that there is more of a "pro-4e" aspect here at ENWorld. I can't say I completely agree, but it occasionally pops up.

The only thing I can think of that would make me not buy it would be if they screw armour over completely. I want to see armour remain effective all the way up until level 30.

The same story as with many previous posters. At first I was very intrigued with the new ideas they had for 4th. But then, bit after bit the showed us the new mehanics and the new fluff . And bit bit bit I got more frustrated.
I don't want to be a grognard and I want to like 4th. But I simply can not.
Even if I try to look at 4th as a complete new game I do not like it very much.
So I will buy the PHB but I strongly doubt that I will ever play 4th.
I simply seems not to support the style of play and dming I prefer.

Look at the poll on this thread. More then 50% of the population are jazzed enough about 4E that they will buy it sight unseen. you're in the majority here.

Several months ago (August-Septemberish), many anti-4Eer that came on the 4E to argue against it (hey, gamers like to talk). Some had valid points, some came to start trouble. Those that came to start trouble had their posts deleted, threads closed, or suspended for a given duration (and rightly so). The problem is is that some of the pro-4Eers were making some personal attacks as well, starting trouble and doing the same stuff that the anti-3Eers were doing (people are people). IMO, there were less 4Eers doing it, but it still happened, but none of the anti-4Eers saw them get the same punishment (no blame on Morrus and the mods, just stating preceptions).

Then came a thread by a pro-4Eer that addressed all the anti's and said that the pro-4Eers are sick of their whining and they don't want them here. Some anti-4Eers saw that as a personal attack on them. Several days later that thread was still around and not locked. That gave some anti's the opinion that Enworld management is against the anti-4Eer (again, nothing against Morrus or the mods, just stating preceptions). It was the final staw and some just left.

Myself, all I really come to ENWorld for anymore is to see if OotS has a new comic listed (I'm on a modem and this loads faster then giantitp), freelancing open call, or if there's an interesting title thread listed (like ths one).

Considering I never even upgraded to 3.5, I can't imagine that I will pick up 4e.

But I will not say "Absolutely Not". I might end up in an area where only D&D is played, and that the current edition, so I might have to out of necessity.
