Will you DM or play in pick up games?

One of the things I'm looking forward to are the inevitable (I hope ;) ) pick-up games of D&D here on Enworld. I do a bit of online racing and the message board communities are a great place to arrange races with people you interact with anyway.

I know the Insider software is suppose to come with a lobby, but I think we could get a better experience by setting up games here. I would like to see a forum dedicated just for the VTT games of Enworlders. A place to set up games and then come back and talk about them when it's over.

So, do you plan to participate in pick-up games as a player? A DM? Both? Would Enworld one shots appeal to you?

Yes to every question. :P

The thing is, I don't have a group to play with. So when I heard DDI would let people play over the 'net I got excited. "Finally I could actually play DnD again." But I like your idea too.

Yes, on all counts.

My group that I DMed fell apart after I joined the Army (big surprise), and I have yet to have a stable group since. However, having a large pool of people to draw from that I trust would be just as good. I will be behind Enworld VTT one hundred percent.

Pick up games could be fun. I'm wondering if even getting a DDI subscription is worth while though. If I get a good enough tabletop game going, I'll just worry about play by post games.

The only way I'll even get D&DI is if it's not connected to Gleemax in any way (i.e. if D&DI constantly eats my brain, a la the Gleemax log-in and other issues) I'm out. Peroid.

Well, I can't wait for DDI.
I hope to play as many pick-up games as possible. work schedule allows me to play with Morning Brits or Afternoon Aussies. (Midnight here is when I get off.)
I will gladly sign up for EN pick-up pool.

Getting a stable, regular group is a constant problem around my way. I tried Fantasy Grounds a while back but it didn't quite cut it for me, or my players. Maybe VTT will? Who knows, but I'll certainly be trying.

I'm of the opposite mind. Gleemax has a great community, so if I could use Gleemax to set up games, that would be a great plus.

sounds like fun.

as a DM, i will make it my goal to set up challenging dungeons with limited resources/resting. I think a 50% success rate is interesting enough, and afterwards we can come here and discuss what worked or why the all died!
