D&D 5E (2014) Will you pay $50.00 for the "standard" PHB?

No, not 50$, I would pay the rebated price that will probably be between 20$ and 40$. (The 4e PHB/DMG/MM could be bought for 67$ from amazon, I am betting we will se a similar offer for 5e).

I shouldn't, but my debit card is bound to leap out of my wallet in the PHB's presence.

$50. Most definitely. The hours and hours I would get out of it = for sure. I can blow that sort of money on many things for one night and have nothing to show in the morning.

I also will pay that for each of the core books and do NOT want them crammed into one book. Invariably all these books that have a whole game in one don't have everything you need. DnD certainly couldn't do that if going for all previous classes, races etc. Plus, i like the info in diff books.

If they go that way, so many will complain about everything that is missing.

A discount on purchasing 3 as a bundle should be offered though. But either way, i will be buying them before all are available.

Yes, although I expect it to be 384+ pages for $50. I'll be disappointed if it's only 320.

Too many variable to answer this one sight unseen. Based on the contents if it looks like a game I would enjoy then yes. If it looks like it wouldn't be a game I like then no. If it happens to sit on the edge of maybe then I start considering things such as artwork, layout, if there is too much wasted space, etc. Also the ever important factor of reading pleasure. If it appears to be a game I'm only somewhat likely to play, then it should provide reading entertainment. A gamebook should be fun to read. If it reads like a textbook then the odds of purchase go down.

Undecided, but not because of price or content. Whether I purchase or not depends on if my group is ready to transition to a new gaming system. If they are content with our current system, then there really is no point for me to purchase a Player's Handbook.

Not unless the DMG and mm are $20 each... As the default DM I will not pay more then $120 for a new game
