Whereas most I played 3e with did and I did not find it broken, just a different baseline.

Which is fine. The one DM that had magic-mart also did not find it to be broken. However, there were multiple folks in this thread talking about how spellcasters were broken because they could make a ton of scrolls and buy any item. If you 1) view it as broken, and 2) set up the circumstances that break it, you don't really have a right to complain about it.
