Willowhaunt's City of the Spider Queen

Randal Morn nods. "It's a good point, though I cannot immediately see the strategic advantage of Daggerdale as an outpost. I suppose the Dalelands are a better place to start than Cormyr or Amn."

Cowan thinks on it a moment, and then nods, "Perhaps that would explain things...however the question of 'why' cannot help but be raised. But that does not change anything, anyway. These crypts you mentioned...have you posted any lookouts to watch for more Drow since the last raid?

Morn addresses Cowan: "I've posted a few of the scouts and rangers I can sprare near the crypts to watch for activity, but none of my men will dare go in the crypt. Nobody relishes the idea of a fight with Dark Elves, and they're especially unwilling to stand up to the Drow without a lot of backup."

Wimzig Tinsnipper, cleric of Gond, with Aegis Ward, Gondsman

*Wimzig had gone silent for a moment, then suddenly started back to life.*

"I just recalled something that disturbs me greatly, quite greatly. The drow worship Lolth, a goddess of spiders and darkness. Never has she allowed them to bring conquest into the light, never, never. The drow are not, indeed, not doing this on Lolth's mandate. Which means it's someone new, a rogue. This makes it twice as necessary, very necessary, that we go to stop them, stop them for good," he says firmly.

*The mechanical creation at his side looks upward at Bilix, and cocks its head to the side as if in curiosity.*

"I wonder if it would be wise," Tadius ponders out loud, "To attack them during their next raid. A counterattack. If we go to them, we're on their territory, anyway."

Wimzig Tinsnipper, cleric of Gond and Aegis Ward, Gondsman

"Come now, let us not wait! Others could be hurt, things could be stolen, and all manner of disorder and chaos could occur, indeed occur, if we were to dawdle. At the least, the very least, we can see where they are emerging from," Wimzig says stubbornly.

Raising an eyebrow, "I thought we knew where they are emerging from. The crypts on the western edge of the Dagger Hills, the lord has said. If you do not wish to dawdle, we could wait outside the crypts and ambush them as they make their way here."

Wimzig Tinsnipper, cleric of Gond and Aegis Ward, Gondsman

"I mean where, precisely, in the crypts are they coming from! If there is a connection to the Underdark, we can deal with it. If there's not, not one at all, then we must wonder, and wonder well, as to where they are truly coming from. Besides, it's been days between the attacks. I'd rather catch them, and trap them, while they are resting and careless, then prepared and aware for a raid," Wimzig pronounces.

"They would be likely careless as they make their ways out of the Crypt. If we wait for them and watch, we may be able to see where they come from more specifically. There have been only two attacks, with four days in between. The next will likely be soon. Would you rather wander through a crypt, attracting the attention of anyone nearby?"

Once again animated from his sulk, Bilix flitters down above the table and pipes in quickly, How about we see what happens first? Seeing the gathered lot take on expressions of impatience, his tail starts to wag in frustration and he continues. No no! I mean, with you all waiting not far from the Crypts, I the bravest of any dragon, cloaked with an invisibility enchanment, can fly close to the entrance and then report back once the bad elves come out. That way I can both tell you about their entrance into the Daggerdale AND inform you of their exact numbers and possible capabilities!

Jenlan leaned forward, impressed with the wyrmling's enthusiasm. It could work you know? It wouldn't be the first time we've tried such a thing.
