I was whatching it recently and my girlfriend mentioned that Tim Burton was doing a remake of the movie. Is there any thruth to that.
If that is true, can you imagine how screwed up that movie will be.

Yes it is true, Tim Burton is doing the remake.

His personal actor Johnn Depp is playing Wonka.

FWIW Tim Burton is not a fan of the original film.

Hopefully he understands that Wonka is in fact an evil embodiment of temptation & handles the script accordingly.

Going way off on a tanget, but I would much rather see a sequel rather than a re-make. Fast forward 20 years & the children from the original film have returned to take their revenge upon Wonka. Little do they know that Charlie (who is quite insane from the blasphemous knoweledge he has been exposed to within the chocolate factory) is a far more dangerous opponent than his former mentor (whose stuffed corpse still whispers dark secrets into Charlie's ear).

Wonka may not in fact have been an avatar of Nyarlathotep...but he was certainly touched by him.

Don't let the propoganda fool you the Tcho-Tcho's...err I mean, Oompa-Loompas...were in fact the instigators of the ethic cleansing in "Loompa land" (ie the Vietnamese highlands) & it was only after a great struggle that their Montagnard neighbors survived their predations.

I could never figure out why no one else could see through the sugar encrusted sappiness to see it's dark & rotten core!!

I heard that the Author of the book its based on did not like the original film either. Changed too much. I heard Tim Burton's will be closer to the book. I never read book, so I can't compare them.

Its been ages since I've read the book and its sequal...probably 2 decades now. I'll probably have to see if I still own my copies or not are re-read them. Curse you EN World!

Has Hollywood gone totally creatively bankrupt that they can only make sequels, remakes, and adaptions of tv shows?

Anyway, anyone want to place bets that either the Oompa-Loompas will be A.) CGI, or B.) actually played by midgets...which will immediately lead to protests claiming that midgets are being mocked and/or exploited?

Oh God, I just visualized CGI Oompa-Loompas. No good will come of this.

It could be worse, they could be using pygmies for the Oompa-Loompas like was originally done in the book.
